WELCOME TO FERAL STUDIO STAINED GLASS CLASSES

The storefront Feral Studio is located on a festive block in a historic building. There is plenty of parking in front and on the side streets.

OUR STORY

Feral Studio is the studio and classroom space of Susanna Conaway (she/her). Susanna has been teaching stained glass since 2012, and working in glass since 1999. Building community with glass at its center is a total joy for her. She recognizes skill sharing as the foundation for getting better at a craft and is dedicated to helping you grow as an artist and discover new skills as a beginner. The name "Feral" means to become wild again after being domesticated. In our modern times, it is difficult and so important to reconnect to our wild selves. Feral Studio is a place where you are encouraged to work with your hands, slow down amidst the hustle, discover your voice, and build in-person community- all of which bring us into the present moment.

Susanna is the owner of Feral Studio, where she designs and builds residential commissions and creates art for galleries. In 2023 she attended an artist residency at Greywood Arts in Ireland, and was featured in Glass Art magazine. In 2019 she was the recipient of the SGAA award for artistry in glass, and in 2018 received a scholarship through the American Glass Guild. She is an editor and contributing writer for the Glass Quarterly, a member of the American Glass Guild, and a Professional member since 2018 of the Stained Glass Association of America.

Feral Studio donates monthly to KQED in support of fact-based journalism, and pays a monthly Shuumi Land tax for living on the Confederated Villages of Lisjan’s territory/ Ohlone Land. Susanna purchases plants from Planting Justice, a nursery in Oakland working toward healthy food equity and empowered marginalized peoples.
